The Solana Foundation integrates ChatGPT on Solana and announces significant funding and accelerator programs for the advancement of AI.
The Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to the decentralization, acceptance, and security of the Solana network, revealed today that the Solana blockchain is the first Layer 1 blockchain to integrate artificial intelligence via a ChatGPT plugin built by Solana Labs. In addition, the Solana Foundation has created a strategic financing program and an AI accelerator program for college students to promote the use and integration of AI on Solana.
The first ChatGPT plugin for a Layer 1 blockchain, for Solana, is currently downloadable from GitHub. In addition to surfacing information on Solana’s computing infrastructure and DeFi projects, this Solana Labs integration shows how AI might make it easier to understand Solana data and protocols. The plugin may be used to purchase NFTs, transfer tokens, analyze transactions, interpret public account data, and locate NFT collections based on their floor price.
Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana co-founder and Solana Labs CEO said, ‘Every developer building consumer-oriented apps should be thinking about how their app is going to be interacted with through an AI model because this is a new paradigm for telling computers what to do.’ ‘AI will make Solana more usable and understandable.’
Solana’s core qualities – rapid throughput, near-zero costs, and simplicity of usage – enable AI models to interact on the network smoothly and efficiently. Even though it is still in its early stages, Solana has become the hub of a web3-wide AI development boom.
As of today, the Solana Foundation has also increased the number of strategic awards available under its AI-focused initiative from the previously announced $1 million to a maximum of $10 million. The awards program’s goal is to motivate the ecosystem to look at new methods that machine learning models may interact with Solana protocols securely and understandably. The program for rolling funds has already attracted 50 applications.
The Solana Foundation has also begun a three-month university student accelerator program, with a whole cohort devoted to blockchain and AI experimentation. Hundreds of applications were received from projects and contributors, and the AI cohort has already resulted in an ask Solana U chatbot, which answers questions about Solana development and assists in finding the appropriate Solana documentation, as well as Solana Audits AI, which is designed to improve security for Solana-based programs.
The Solana ecosystem is also making significant progress by embracing AI, with some projects already integrating AI technology:
-Hivemapper introduced AI Trainers in mid-April to help its AI translate real-world pictures into high-quality digital maps complete with speed restrictions, warning signs, and other street-related information. Since then, 5.7 million reviews of AI training have been initiated by contributors, with 500,000 things attaining consensus.
-Context-aware AI-powered chatbots focusing on Solana and over 30 Solana ecosystem initiatives.
-The Omni chatbot was introduced by the MarginFi team to respond to inquiries about Solana and its several projects, such as Meteora, Jupiter, Tensor, Mango Markets, Zeta, Kamino, Lido, and many others.
