Binance regrets to inform you that they will be departing the Dutch market. No new users from the Netherlands will be permitted as of right now. Existing Dutch resident customers will only be able to withdraw assets from the Binance platform from 2023-07-17 at 00:00 UTC (2023-07-17 at 02:00 UTC+2). There will be no more purchases, transactions, or deposits. Binance advises users to act responsibly by removing assets from their Binance accounts.
Binance went through a thorough registration application procedure with the Dutch authorities as a virtual asset service provider (VASP). Despite their efforts to find alternate ways to serve Dutch citizens by Dutch legislation, they have yet to obtain a VASP registration in the Netherlands. Binance will continue to work hard to get licenses to offer our products and services to people in the Netherlands.
Binance is currently registered in several EU countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, and Lithuania, demonstrating compliance with EU criteria for the prevention of money laundering and terrorist funding. Binance remains dedicated to collaborating with authorities throughout the world and is also focusing on preparing its business to be fully compliant with the upcoming EU laws on crypto-assets (MiCAR).
Existing users who are Dutch residents will get an email with comprehensive information on what this means for their accounts, any assets they may currently have on the Binance platform, and any necessary steps. While Binance is sad that this has been necessary, it will continue to work with Dutch regulators productively and openly.
